I Love This Yarn

I Love This Yarn – Solid colors is the first of the I Love This Yarn family.

Before I get into the review, let’s just take care of this: If you don’t like HL and their policies, I respect your rights – I just don’t need to hear them. I have my own issues with them and I choose to fight them by changing the laws of the land and having healthcare not be contingent with employment but by citizenship. As far as their religious stance, I’ve always viewed that as marketing as opposed to morals and they have shown themselves to be as hypocritical there as other companies who claim social engagement. Everyone gets to draw there lines where they want to.

I still like this yarn – I used to love it, just like the name says, it used to be pretty unique but then Premiere upped their game and even Herrschners has improved so much that ILTY now has some competition for soft and usable yarn. However, it remains on my top five list and I continue to use it a lot.

Softness is the key factor for this yarn. It has some squishy goodness. The other thing is an incredible 64 color palette. That’s just for the solid colors. Add the metallics and the prints and that’s a formidable family. Though I have found yarns I like better for solids; I haven’t found anything close on the prints.

The price is $4.99 – that price has been pretty stable for the last few years. It started out at $3.50 and they steadily raised the price about $.50 each year until we started protesting.

The solids are very reliable. The stitch definition is great. It isn’t splitty and the colors are beautiful.

How It Knits Up

It is 100% acrylic and it behaves like it. There’s nothing fancy about it. There is lovely drape that seems to come with all the colors – colors can act differently, so this is a real thing. There’s no fuzz. It doesn’t split very often. Every once in a while, you will encounter a knot where the yarn was joined but they are easy to get around.

How It Blocks

I rarely block acrylics but when making squares of any kind, I might have to and this stands up to it rather well. There’s no fade, no fuzz and it holds its new shape well.
