It was interesting using Ice Yarns – Favorite Tweed shortly after I used I Love This Yarn Tweed. The only thing more fateful would have been using Favorite in black tweed – which I have – but I used it in white.
Buying the white tweed was an impulse move. I was buying the rainbow tweed and this doesn’t have it. It has brown tweed but it looked good in the photo.
And it looks good in person. It feels good on the needles and it looks good worked up. This white tweed isn’t as thick as the I Love This Yarn tweed but there’s no denying the stitch definition and the loftiness of the stitches. Did mention it feels good?
I used nickel plated needles and didn’t have any problem with it being slippery or sticky. There wasn’t a problem with splits or knots and the drape is really lovely.
It’s a smaller ball than ILTY by about 20 yards but there was plenty left after I made the Lace Slouchy. I won’t get another hat but maybe a headband and I think a headband made out of this yarn would look and feel good and have function as well.
The price of Favorite Tweed is $1.75 a ball. It must be purchased in a pack of four so it comes to $7 for 916 yards. You would have to purchase 4 balls of ILTY to get that yardage and you would spend $24. The only way to get it is to order it from Ice Yarns and they are located in Turkey. I purchased mine as part of an order that almost $150 and that included $50 for shipping. I received 64 skeins of yarn for that price so it came out to $2.25 a ball.
You can get a lot for the $50 shipping and the yarns are of such quality that it is worth it for me to order from them again. I only order yarn twice a year unless I need something for an order so I am looking to December to order again. Yep, I think it’s worth it.
